Work Hard, Play Hard!

The Live Oak library hosted a special Valentine's Day party for students in grades 3-5 who read at least ten Bluebonnet books and passed the quizzes.  Mrs. Harvey-Slager and Mrs. Pierre brought in video games and refreshments for the students to enjoy.  The students had a blast!  All of that hard work really paid off!

It's Moodle Time at Live Oak!

Students in grades 2 - 5 are using Moodle, the district's virtual learning environment, to take Bluebonnet quizzes in the library.  The librarian, Mrs. Harvey-Slager, entered quizzes on all twenty Bluebonnet books into the Moodle system.  After students read a book, they test their knowledge by taking a Moodle quiz.  Moodle makes learning fun!

Using Excel to Explore Graphs and Charts

Our students are selecting and using appropriate graphical representations of data by using Microsoft Excel to create circle charts, bar graphs and line graphs using data that they have entered.

Fifth Grade TAG Students Book Review

How do you facilitate a book book discussion roundtable between students at two different schools?  TAG teacher Bonnie Stewart answered that question by organizing video conferences between her students at Live Oak Elementary Elementary and Forest North Elementary.  The students get together once a week using Goolge Plus Hangouts to discuss the book "Johnny Tremain" by Esther Forbes.
